Global IT outsourcing (ITO) services is on pace to reach $251.7 billion in 2012, according to Gartner, Inc. In addition, Gartner states that 90 percent of North American companies will use remote infrastructure managed services by 2014.
CompTIA conducted a study of 750 small businesses and found that 46% of firms have trimmed their annual IT expenditures by 25% or more as a result of their shift to managed services, with 13% of those firms cutting IT costs by 50% or more. The IT function with the greatest potential for reducing costs through outsourcing is help desk; with 51% of organizations that outsource this function finding that they have lower costs than when they performed the function in-house.
