  • Symantec announces 2008 Greater China Visionary Award winners

Wang and his team have standardised the company's IT infrastructure on a variety of Symantec products to improve application availability and prepare a new disaster recovery plan. China Mobile Group Zhejiang Company Limited has improved overall storage utilisation and has seen a reduction in the number of licenses needed.     MTR Corporation Limited lowers costs, improves operational efficiency Daniel Lai, head of Information Technology/Chief Information Officer, MTR Corporation Limited, is recognised for his role in utilising Symantec technology and services to help keep information security on track during its merger with Kowloon Canton Railway Corporation.

    WuXi People's Hospital simplifies data management process
    Liu Yu, IT director, WuXi People's Hospital, is recognised for his role in helping make the hospital's information more secure while reducing costs. With Symantec Storage Foundation HA, Liu Yu and his team have reduced the hospital's system downtime from 15 hours to 15 minutes per year. And with the deployment of Symantec Enterprise Vault, the time required to find an archived email went from an average of multiple hours to two minutes. The consolidation of endpoint security functions with the deployment of Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 reduced administrative time from five full time employees to just one, equating to an annual savings of US$73,000. Moreover, despite a doubling of endpoints, the hospital saw a 50 per cent reduction in threats in their environment.
