(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 28, 2009 ) SAN DIEGO, Calif., August 28, 2009 – AFSMI, SSPA, and TPSA—the three leading professional associations of the services and support industry—announced that Helen Leah Conroy, J.D., will headline the Women in Services networking dinner to be held at Technology Services World 2009 (TSW09) Las Vegas on Tuesday, October 20. The TSW09 conference, co-hosted by AFSMI, SSPA, and TPSA, will take place October 19-21, with the theme of “Driving Customer Adoption: The Next Generation in Services.”
Conroy will discuss "Five Things Every Woman Should Know to Become a Successful Negotiator.” A contract specialist with 25 years of legal experience who negotiates dozens of service agreements every year, she is a founding partner at Piedmont Law Partners of Oakland, California.
Conroy will share how communication styles often used by women can undermine their effectiveness and will show proven strategies for establishing, maintaining, and succeeding in a leadership role in any negotiating context. She also will identify and provide practical suggestions for dealing with gamesmanship and other “bad behavior” in negotiations. A portion of the dinner ticket price will be donated to the Dress for Success organization, which provides business attire for financially challenged women.
Women in Services was created earlier this year to provide a unique and dedicated forum for professional members of AFSMI, SSPA, and TPSA. The Women in Services steering committee includes senior executives from globally recognized industry leaders Approva Global Customer Solutions, BMC Software, Cisco Systems, Digital Hands, EMC, Exigen Elite, Hewlett-Packard, Hitachi Data Systems, Informatica, Intergraph, NCR, rL Solutions, Salesforce.com, Sun Microsystems, and Xerox Corporation.
