(I-SoftwareNews.Com, April 01, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The Supreme Council of Health will join forces with the GCC in marking the Oral Health Week of 2013. Numerous activities will be held within the last week of March.
The GCC Oral Health Week 2013 will aim to develop a unified method in order to combat oral diseases, along with tooth decay among the member countries. It will also aim to unify activities and awareness programs to promote the general health effects of proper oral and dental care.
Statistics from the GCC epidemiological studies has suggested that the prevalence of dental cavities range from 80% to 90% among children under the age of 16. The week-long activities to be held under the theme “Dental Health and Beauty” by the Supreme Council of health, hope to provide more pointed notification of the ways to lower that number as a whole. School Children especially will be targeted, as longevity of dental health is first and foremost to avoiding many of the problems endured by so many within the area. Awareness programs will be held in collaboration with the Supreme Education Council, along with Primary Health Care Department, Hamad Medical Corporation, and College of the North Atlantic-Qatar, and Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College.
In a week of celebration, students of the Dental Assistance program at the CNA-! Will be organized in a series of table clinics in order to help promote basic dental health.
“Since launching the GCC Oral Health week in Qatar, we have noticed an increase in the awareness of the people about their dental and oral health, especially among the children, who really need this kind of education at an early age,” said Dr Alanoud bint Mohammed Al Thani, Manager, Health Promotion and Non-Communicable Diseases, Public Health Department speaking at a press conference held at the SCH yesterday. She explained that awareness about oral health has increased among people in Qatar since the launch of the GCC Oral Health Week in 2008.
