(I-SoftwareNews.Com, June 06, 2013 ) New York, NY -- Internet Media Labs, creator of http://oneqube.com">oneQubeTM SmartStream, announced today its acquisition of user-favorite TweetChat.com, the original platform for participating in Twitter Chats and live-tweeting conferences and events.
TweetChat was created four and a half years ago by Brooks Bennett, giving Twitter users a new way to use hashtags. Many Twitter users were crushed when they heard last month that Bennett was not going to make the platform compliant with Twitter’s API changes, effectively shuttering the application June 11 when the API updates.
“The mission never changed, to make a tool designed specifically to focus on a hashtag for a short period of time,” Bennett said. “There have always been requests to take the concept to the next level, and I am excited for the role oneQube's SmartStream will play in filling this gap. The tools for real-time social discussions are growing up. More and more folks are utilizing hashtags and understand their benefits. The hashtag has gone mainstream.”
TweetChat will shut down as a chat platform June 10, as planned, but will relaunch June 11 as a content hub for everything about Twitter Chats and hashtags.
“We’re honored to be able to carry forward Brooks’ vision for Twitter chats and that he entrusted us with the fantastic community he has built over the past several years,” said Peter Bordes, CEO and co-founder of Internet Media Labs.
All chat moderators are invited to submit their chat information at TweetChat.com for inclusion on our Twitter chat calendar, starting June 11.
