 (EMAILWIRE.COM, November 04, 2011 ) Southampton, UK. New Forest National Park is getting ready for the Halloween holiday with special events, attractions and activities.
New Forest National Park is located near Dorset on the south coast of Hampshire and Wiltshire. One of the 13 national parks in the UK, it offers lots for visitors of all ages. The park is now getting ready for the Halloween season, when it offers special events and activities for visitors.
An event that has been a hit in recent years is the Spooky Halloween River Tour. This tour takes a trip down the Beaulieu River during the twilight hours. Visitors are led down the river in canoes by park guides.
The Halloween River Tour includes scary sights by the side of the river such as old shacks and noises in the woods, as well as spooky tales and local legends told by the guides. Although suitable for all ages, children under 16 need parental consent and itÂ’s advised not to bring small children because it can be quite scary.
The New Forest’s Battlefield LIVE combat games series offers something special for the Halloween season. Called ‘Battle of the Dead,’ it’s a Halloween-themed game held in the afternoon where costumes are encouraged. The event can be joined by anyone age 8 and up and it runs every day during half term week starting at 13:00.
There’s also an adults-only version of Battlefield LIVE called ‘Night of the Living Dead.’ This is also a 2-hour battle and the park is giving vouchers to those that come in Halloween costumes. This event is available for anyone over 16, but those under 18 need parental consent.
The Exbury Ghost Train is an adventure activity for families. This is a 30-minute trip that winds its way through Exbury Gardens with spooky characters encountered along the way, including the unique PHANTOMime. It includes a trip through a pitch-black tunnel, interesting stories and optical illusions.
For the Exbury Ghost Train, Halloween costumes are encouraged and a free Goody Bag goes to the best dressed. This trip also gives visitors a chance to see the changing colors in Exbury Garden.
The fireworks events at The New Forest are always done well, and on October 29th, the park offers its Halloween version set to a Twilight Zone theme. Admission to the fireworks event also includes entry to the James Bond Exhibition and the National Motor Museum.
There are lots of New Forest Camping options for visitors who want to make a holiday of it. Although known for its rugged wilderness camping, the park also has many log cabins and bed and breakfasts. New Forest Hotels accommodation & New Forest Cottages fill up fast for the Halloween events, so itÂ’s suggested that visitors book early.
